Blues Scales
You can easily determine the notes for any blues scale using the following formula below. The formula below is written in relation to the Major Scale of the root note.
Blues Scale = Root + Flat Third + Fourth + Flat Fifth + Fifth + Flat Seventh + Root
or
Blues Scale = 1 + ♭3rd + 4 + ♭5 + 5 + ♭7 + 1
Another way to construct a Blues Scale is to use the five notes of the Minor Pentatonic Scale, and to add a diminished fifth.
Example:
C Minor Pentatonic Scale = C + E♭ + F + G + B♭ + C
add a diminished fifth (G♭)
C Blues Scale = C + E♭ + F + G♭ + G + B♭ + C
